Renewable Energy Generation

Generating our own power to be used in our own buildings is a practical way that Care Plus Group can reduce our carbon footprint and do our part in minimising our environmental impact.  Solar panels like the ones on our two main buildings mean that we are taking less power from the grid.

Since installation of our 30kW of solar panels in 2015 we have now generated over 200,000 kWh of electricity from our photovoltaic panels on the Val Waterhouse Centre representing a saving of almost 50 tonnes of CO2 going into the atmosphere.

To put this into perspective 200,000 kWh will power an electric vehicle for over 800,000 miles or the electricity demand of a three bedroom house for over 65 years.

In 2024 we successfully applied for funding for 163 solar panels to be installed on the roof of the workshop at our Westgate Park building. Not only will these drastically reduce the cost to run the building but also any additional power will be sold back to the grid.

In 2025, we installed solar panels on our Community Inpatient Unit. Since the installation, we have generated 4,346.20kw of power and we are using 100% of the energy we are generating. The energy we have saved is the equivalent of planting 51 trees!
