Community TB Nurse Led Service

Our TB Nurse-Led Service provides specialist care, treatment and support for people diagnosed with, or at risk of, tuberculosis (TB). We work closely with individuals, families and partner organisations to ensure timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and prevention of the spread of infection.


What we do

Our experienced TB nurses offer a comprehensive, person-centred service, including:

  • Assessment and monitoring of individuals with suspected or confirmed TB
  • Supporting people through their full course of treatment
  • Contact tracing to identify and test those who may have been exposed
  • New Entrant LTB (latent Tuberculosis) Screening clinic aimed at identifying those individuals arriving from high incidence

Run BCG clinics

  • Education and advice to help people understand TB and manage their health
  • Working alongside other health and care professionals to provide joined-up care

The service provides a holistic approach in the management of the TB patient. This is done by a risk assessment of the individuals health and social needs to ensure the patient successfully completes TB medication to prevent Multidrug resistant TB.

The service not only support the individual diagnosed with TB but provides support to organisations who require mass screening, we pride our service on carrying out large-scale screening without causing any disruption to the workplace or concern to the general public.

                  

Who the service is for

The service is available for:

  • People with suspected or confirmed tuberculosis
  • Individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with TB
  • Communities or groups identified as being at higher risk of TB
  • Professionals seeking advice or guidance on TB management

Accessing this Service

Referrals can be made by healthcare professionals. Individuals who are concerned about symptoms or possible exposure to TB are encouraged to speak to their GP or healthcare provider for further advice.
