The Care Plus Group Charitable Trust would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the incredible Grant family for their unwavering generosity and commitment to supporting people in our local community.

For many years, the Grant family has worked tirelessly to raise funds in memory of loved ones, ensuring that local people facing some of life’s most difficult moments receive the compassionate support they need.

John Grant has continued his fundraising efforts since the heartbreaking loss of his beloved wife, Tracy, to cancer. Tracy was a passionate advocate for supporting Macmillan nurses, recognising the invaluable care they provide to patients and families at the end of life. In honour of Tracy’s wishes, the Care Plus Group Charitable Trust ring-fences every penny raised by the Grant family to support local Macmillan nursing services and people within our own community, ensuring the funds stay local where they can make the greatest difference.

One of the highlights of the fundraising calendar has always been the annual five-a-side football tournament organised by John and his family at the Lindum Club. Unfortunately, this year’s tournament was unable to take place.

Earlier this year, the family suffered another devastating loss when John’s brother, Alan Grant, sadly lost his wife, Julia. Like Tracy, Julia was cared for by the local Macmillan End of Life Haven Team, whose compassion and dedication meant so much to the family.

Determined to continue supporting the cause that meant so much to both Tracy and Julia, John and Alan came together to organise a charity concert in their memory. Held at Grimsby’s Birds Social Club, the evening brought together friends, family and supporters for a truly memorable celebration of music, love and remembrance.

The concert featured an outstanding performance by Zander and the Peace Pirates, who travelled to Grimsby to support the event and help raise funds for this important cause. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, an incredible £2,000 was raised on the night.

Continuing their longstanding support for the work of local Macmillan nurses, Lloyds Bank once again matched the amount raised, taking the overall total to an outstanding £4,000.

These vital funds will help ensure local Macmillan services can continue supporting individuals and families across our community when they need it most.
