Yasmin has recently celebrated her first year in employment with the support of Employability Services.

Yasmin, who has a physical disability, joined Employability Services Supported Employment in 2016 to gain support to enhance existing skills along with additional job search and interview preparation. In no time at all, Yasmin was successful in gaining paid employment as an administration/reception assistant but unfortunately due to the corona virus pandemic, the employment came to an end.

Following lockdown and the continuation of support from her Employment Support Officer, Yasmin was successful applying for a position within Employability Services as a Clerical Assistant.

We asked Yasmin about her experience with Employability Services, she said:

“I feel I have excelled beyond my own expectations as I did not expect to gain employment. I am thoroughly enjoying my role which has helped increase my confidence and independence. I am grateful to Employability Services for the continued support.”

Michelle Lister, Supported Employment Team Leader, commented on Yasmin’s great work. She said:

“It is great to have Yasmin as part of the team and to see the results of her determination come to fruition.”
