Care Plus Group Equips All staff members with Life‑Saving Basic Life Support Skills

Care Plus Group (CPG) recently announced that all its staff across North East Lincolnshire will have a mandatory requirement to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) training through its CPD accredited course, not just the clinical staff.

This further roll‑out means all teams, whether administrative colleagues, back‑office departments, or management and can confidently respond to medical emergencies using cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Delivered by CPG’s own clinical educators, the programme capitalises on real‑world expertise and provides practical, scenario‑based hands‑on learning.

“A lifesaving skill for all roles”

“We’re all proud to have learnt these life‑saving skills together,” said a senior administrator at CPG’s head office based in Grimsby.

“I never expected to do CPR or use a defibrillator, but now I know that if a situation arises, I would be able to do something, which is better than nothing, whether at work or at home.”

Another staff member said “As a non-clinical staff member I found the BLS training to be very informative and well presented.  Our Tutor (Nige) explained all the steps clearly using the manikins to demonstrate the best approach for adults, children and babies.  All staff attending the course where then given the opportunity to practice these steps using the manikins making it easier to apply the skills.  This training has given me the confidence to assist in an emergency till the paramedics arrive”

These reflections echo the spirit of empowerment behind the initiative: equipping non‑clinical staff with practical emergency intervention capabilities boosts both workplace safety and personal confidence, all while helping to build a community of basic life support savers in and around North East Lincolnshire.

A community‑focused impact
By integrating BLS training into the core development of all employees, CPG is not just exceeding workplace safety requirements but is establishing a culture where every colleague could potentially save a life. When every second counts, having trained individuals nearby can double or even triple someone’s chance of survival.

Looking ahead
Building on this success, CPG plans to sustain BLS competency by incorporating annual refreshers into its learning framework, ensuring all staff remain confident and capable.
