Chair Based Exercise Group Celebrates 19 Year Anniversary!

Our chair based exercise group are celebrating a staggering 19 years since it was established. This group which is part of the great work undertaken by our Hope Specialist Service, for nearly two decades, a chair based exercise group has been helping members stay active, connected, and healthy, all from the comfort of their chairs. This month, the group proudly celebrates 19 years of community and movement through chair-based exercise classes.

The group was created to offer a gentle yet effective form of physical activity suitable for people of all ages and abilities, especially seniors and those with limited mobility. Over the years, the classes have grown from a handful of participants meeting in a community centre to a thriving group of dozens who meet regularly to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and boost mental health.

The goal has always been to make exercise accessible, fun, and social, and it is with special thanks to our wonderful members and dedicated volunteers together making this celebration of 19 years possible.

The chair-based exercises incorporate stretches, light cardio, and strength-building movements all designed to improve balance, coordination, and overall wellbeing. Participants also enjoy the social aspect of the sessions, forming lasting friendships that extend beyond the workout.

As the group looks ahead to its 20th year, the commitment to inclusivity and health remains at the forefront of its mission. Newcomers are always welcome to join and experience the joy of movement and friendship.
