Recovery Worker, Melissa, experienced a great change of pace working with the Patient, Events and Medical Service (PEMS). Gaining new insight and training to support her future career.
Melissa has worked at Care Plus Group’s Community Inpatient Unit for over two years. Following the completion of her First at Work Certificate, she was asked to consider applying to become a First responder for the new PEMS service. After learning about the support that PEMS delivers in the community, she felt it would be the ideal opportunity to further her career and learn new skills. To prepare her for this role, she was given the opportunity to attend specialist courses delivered by the CPG Training Academy. This bespoke training gave her further required knowledge she needed when working with the PEMS team.
When asked about her experience, Melissa said:
“I am not someone who compliments themselves a lot, however I am proud of myself for achieving this role. The training courses I have been put through are very good, although sometimes challenging for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience within this area. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is wanting to change or develop their career within the healthcare arena!
“My proudest moment was being told that I passed the courses, as I genuinely believed I wouldn’t be able to do it, so to me that proved to myself that I am capable of doing more.”
