Professional Care Workers Week 2024

Staff were invited for tea and cakes at our Community Inpatient Unit on Wednesday as a thank you and to mark ‘Professional Care Workers Week’, which took place this week.

The week aims to recognise the valuable and skilled nature of the work that staff like Recovery Workers, Support Workers and HCAs.

Nicola Woodcock, Lead Nurse and Deputy Manager at CIU organised the event for staff and said:
“You are all core to the care we provide at CIU. HCA’s and Recovery Workers are an important part of our team here and you all have specialist skills. You play an essential role in identifying unwell and deteriorating patients, promoting pressure damage prevention care, promoting the therapy and rehabilitation model, as well as promoting specialist continence care plans, supporting patients with specialist diets, and providing end of life care. You have a diverse range of skills and responsibilities.”

“The HCA role is developing, and additional skills are being undertaken including taking observations, venepuncture, delegating skills mix and managing the floor and in the future they will be undertaking ECGH training”

Lisa Revell, Chief Nurse added:
“CPG has many skilled non registered individuals within CPG and are a crucial part of the workforce, they play an instrumental role within various services providing excellent outcomes for our patients/ Service users.

“It was lovely to speak to staff on Wednesday and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff within unregistered care roles for their hard work and dedication to people.”

A big thank you to Jess, one of the cooks at CIU for the amazing cakes and to the Health and Wellbeing Collaboratives for providing some promotional items for staff to take away with them.
