Success Story – Lee’s Journey to Advanced Clinical Practice

Lee’s Journey to Advanced Clinical Practice

Lee has successfully completed a Master of Science in Advanced Clinical Practice at Sheffield Hallam University, specialising in learning disability, a significant milestone that reflects his dedication to improving specialist care.

Over three years, Lee balanced academic study with clinical responsibilities, developing advanced assessment skills, leadership capability, and a deeper understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities. His commitment to professional growth has strengthened his practice and his impact within his field.

This achievement was made possible through the support of his employer, CPG and the CPG Employability Services team, who provided guidance, encouragement, and practical help throughout his journey. Their investment in Lee’s development enabled him to thrive academically and professionally.

Lee’s success demonstrates what can be achieved through determination, passion, and strong organisational support. As he steps into his advanced clinical role, he brings enhanced expertise and a renewed drive to champion high‑quality, person‑centred care.

Lee added ‘As a learning disability nurse the opportunity to complete the Advanced Clinical Practice Masters Course was a challenge, I couldn’t say no to. Completing the course, particularly via the apprenticeship route, has enabled me to develop my practice across all pillars of nursing to an advanced level. This will ultimately benefit the patients who access our service.’
