Learning Disability Week – Meet Gemma
Gemma’s Story After the loss of her mum, one of our service users, Gemma, has been supported by her sister and a close family friend.
Supported employment is a flexible service for people with health conditions, learning or physical disabilities and/or neurodiverse conditions.
Following an appointment and assessment with an Employability Support Officer, we will work together to decide on the best pathway for you which could include one of the following:-
If you are work ready, a paid opportunity could be the pathway for you. Once employment is gained there is the opportunity to receive continued support to enable you to sustain your employment up until retirement.
If you need to gain confidence or experience, a voluntary work placement could be right for you.
Aftercare Package:
All our initiatives include an aftercare service for a period of 13 weeks, whereby support continues to enable you to sustain employment or continue to develop your employability skills.
For further information on any of our services, please contact us via telephone or Email.

Michelle Burley
Michelle joined Care Plus Group as an Apprentice Clerical Assistant in 2021. Whilst she enjoyed her previous role in a local school, she felt that there were no real opportunities to progress within her career, hence she jumped at the opportunity to undertake a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship within Intermediate Care at Home.
With great support from her manager and her assessor, Michelle is currently working at Distinction level and aims to complete her apprenticeship by May 2023.
Michelle said:
“Care Plus Group have given me the opportunity to work towards my aspirations and the apprenticeship has enabled me to achieve a qualification and gain valuable experience. My confidence has grown so much and when I look back, I realise how far I have come and what I have achieved”.
Annette Dray, Employability Support Officer said:
“It is fantastic to see how the working in a supportive environment and developing new skills has increased Michelle’s confidence. She has embraced the opportunity to gain both qualifications and experience to support her progression.”
